Some of the greatest American entrepreneurs of the 20th century started their business ventures while they were still in college, and could not complete their education as a result. It is possible that had they started their businesses any later, they would not have been as successful.

From the above two statements, it can only be proven that

(A) sometimes, it can be worthwhile to sacrifice an immediate gain for a larger benefit.

(B) education is not always useful.

(C) it pays not to complete an education.

(D) entrepreneurs who start their ventures after completing their education are not as successful as those who start off while still in college.

(E) you do not have to be educated to be an entrepreneur.

Please answer with logic. OA later

(A) sometimes, it can be worthwhile to sacrifice an immediate gain for a larger benefit.
the greatest entrepreneurs were still in college and didn't complete their education, it is possible they wouldn't archieve that goal later. hence they sacrificed their immediate goal to become entrepreneur. correct answer

(B) education is not always useful.
out of scope

(C) it pays not to complete an education.
too extreme

(D) entrepreneurs who start their ventures after completing their education are not as successful as those who start off while still in college.
not proven, out of scope

(E) you do not have to be educated to be an entrepreneur.
it is about education / degree and not about being educated, since too extreme

Hi catgmat, hows the goal and gain(stated in choice A) the same...any thoughts??...although I think the answer should be A by POE...rest of the choices are too extreme.

hmmm, i think the immediate gain is the degree or education, because the future is unsure. At the end the choice to quit college in favor for a enterpreneur carrier was for some people a greater benefit. cheers
