Marine..Iam sorry for being blunt..but it would be better if you post your answers after a reasonable discussion time.
You post dozens of questions and seem to take ages before returning with answers.

answer is E
metabolism is compared to metabolism of other warm blooded mammals not to mammals themselves

So I think it's either A or B because the possesives account for the missing 'metabolism'.....I would go with A....
with B....'metabolism were' is bad.

having said that...i would go with

what would be the best answer between A & B ?
