SMU is located in Dallas, Texas. It previously offered a one year program but the program now lasts two years.
Dallas is the eighth largest economic area in the US in terms of personal income.

Value Considerations
http://www.cox.smu.edu/grad/prospective ... nancingmba
"The Cox Distinguished MBA Scholars Program awards up to 10 MBA full-tuition scholarships per year to the most outstanding students admitted to the Cox MBA full-time program. You could be one of them."

FT05 ranks SMU #76 in value for money, above Tuland, near Texas-Austin and Wake Forest, but below Rice and Texas A&M.

I agree that it is a good idea to switch schools for grauate work.
For others who might be interested in SMU:
Do you like SMU in general?
Do you like the area?

after going to an information session, I get the impression that anyone going to COX mba must bring to the table a good amount of soft skills to network into their opportunities
Because of the small class size of 100, prestigious banks may not want to take time out to visit a small school to only recruit a few candidates.
Ranked high in professional networking, I get the impression that students who step outside of their comfort zone, ask for referrals and introductions to center of influences gain a tremendous amount of opportunities at SMU. Then again, that may be true for anyone who networks well.
