With IPL making Indians go crazy over cricket, Sports Marketing has taken a new turn. Do you think this can be another horizon explored by business schools?
I personally do not think so. Niche markets, such as sport marketing, are not the general focus of business schools. Business schools focus more on the broader subject, such as general management and marketing for big companies. A quick glance at top b-schools shows that most b-schools do not have NFL or the NBA as one of its primary employers, mainly because these organizations attract employees from different avenues. I don't think, at least not top b-schools, will get to sports marketing in the near future.
