The GMAT Club thread is a sample. You can't draw conclusions on the whole process from it.

Official data: Average GMAT is 729, range of 550-790.

It's clear that they interview a ton of people with GMAT scores below 700.

LOL, that is very dependent on your view of tons. Based on my view of tons I would strongly disagree with you. Median around 730, so 50% below 730, and I would guess that at least half of those are above 700...so less than 25% of the total # of interviews = maybe 200ish people.

My point was that it is clearly wrong to state "they have not interviewed a single person with a GMAT below 700", when clearly they have.

25% of all interviews below 700 is still a very sizable number.

The mean is 730. I believe the median is 740. My guess is only about 10% of accepted applicants have below a 700. Think about it this way, for every 600 score they admit, they need to admit 6 people with a score of 750 to maintain that 730 average. Obviously it's all speculation, but the moral of the story is that those with below a 700 have really stood out in other ways.

I've used this forum a ton since I started the B-school application process so I thought I'd contribute as well.

Yesterday (Saturday), I got an interview invite to Stanford GSB after a long waiting period. Re: my background just to give context. I'm an underrepresented minority who attended a non Harvard, Yale, Princeton Ivy, GMAT: 690, GPA: 3.6, Major: Philosophy. WE: 3 years at large hedge fund (>$2BN assets under management), now work for family business since October. Plans after business school: entrepreneurship.

The invitations are still rolling in guys, I know 2 other people who don't use this forum that got invited in the past week. There is still hope.

Wow!!!! An invite on a Saturday is really something to go all out on those shots!!! You should consider yourself blessed. People like me have a never ending wait for an invite and keep refreshing mail and post weird comments on GC.

I guess ill just withdraw my application now. It seems Mr. Ahmad Musa from Nigeria wants to give me $100 million.

I wouldn't withdraw it just yet. He offered me the same thing, but in the end he could only send a check for $35,000 and he needed $7,000 of it back to cover sending fees so I deposited the check and sent him the $7k, but he told me he will finish payments by the end of the year. Until we find out if he will pay it all we should still keep our apps in.

Atleast he funded all the application expenses u incurred with enough dough left to hire the best consultants.

Look closely. He has posted it today on a sunday morning indian time and I assume he has mentioned saturday to convey that it was a saturday evening in california.
Irrespective of the day and time what matters is that the guy had an awesome morning and that the joy is probably gonna last a very long time. And I hope the same happens with every deserving candidate here...including me :)

Received the Invite on Saturday.
What is the acceptance percentage out of all the interviews (they mention 50% in the email)? Are we finally just being judged by this interview? Is there another one after?

Thanks!
