Hi Stacy,

I started my MBA in my home country some 2 years ago, but I haven't finished it because I was only taking one class a semester, since I was working full-time, and now I am on leave because my work has intensified. Will disclosing this in my application hurt my chances?

I have been working for 8 years, and I started my MBA after working for 6 years. Part of me wants to disclose this fact because I think it shows that I have been trying to improve myself. But, my grades are not that good because I kept missing class to attend to work requirements, so I worry that the disclosure might hurt me. How do I handle this? I am targeting Duke, Dartmouth, Cornell, UNC, and Ross.

Hi Bacchus,

I do recommend you disclose this in your application. If you do not disclose this but are asked about your prior education in your interviews, an interviewer will see that this had not been disclosed in your application. If you are worried about your grades, you can discuss this in your personal essays.
