Situation: My main job experience has been with a very small economic/policy consulting firm. I started there right out of college and worked there for 5 years, up until the end of July.

For a variety of reasons, I decided to move on to another job. This job is much higher paying, and I will have a bit more responsibility eventually than I did at the previous job, though I still don't directly manage anymore.

However, at the time I apply, I will have only worked here about 4-6 weeks. On one hand, the fact that I have moved up in pay/responsibility may be something to note, and I would feel strange not making any mention of it on my application (except in the Employment section). However, I haven't been here long so I don't really have a lot to say yet, as I'm still somehwat in "traning" mode

What do I do? I feel like I wouldn't have much to say in my essays since I haven't done a ton yet...however, I have actually made a big impact in my short time here already because previously my manager was responsible for doing all the analysis, and since I joined, because of my experience and skills, I have been able to take more off his shoulders than he was hoping/imagining.

Is this worth noting? I think it may be, but by saying this I'm not sure if it then may seem I should have a recommendation from my current manager, but I'm not asking him due to my short time here as well as the fact he is not aware I plan to leave in 10 months for b-school.

Montauk mentions that you are the type of candidate who should apply later in the rounds. Is that what I would do? Probably not.

I think you should definitely mention it as you would a promotion since you can't write much substantive about the new position.
