Starting from the same point, a sparrow and a hawl flew in opposite directions. Each traveled at a constant speed until they are 200 feet aprt. How far did sparrow travel?
(1) The ratio of the sparrow's speed to the hawk's speed was 3 to 2
(2) The average speed of the sparrow was 5 feet per second faster than the average speed of the hawk.

Shouldn't it be D?

To me, both statements look SUFF.

Should be 'A'

let the speed of sparrow = s
speed of hawl = h
after 't' sec the distance between the sparrow and hawl will be 200 feet.

Statement1: s = 3h/2

sum of the distance traveled by sparrow and hawl = 200 feet
putting that in equation (3h/2)t + ht = 200 ===> ht = 80
Distance traveled by the sparrow = 3ht/2 = 120
hence SUFF

Statement 2: s = h +5
putting the sum of the distance in equation
(h+5)t + ht = 200
value of ht can't be derived by this eq.
hence INSUFF

so the answer is 'A'

Distance = speed x time
Time to travel is T
If time for which they flew is same and the speeds are in ration 3:2 then distance too will be in ration 3:2 so 1) is SUFF

for 2 we have SpeedxT + (Speed +5)xT = 200 which has 2 unknowns. this is INSUFF
