I Know it is a silly question to ask as there are many study plans already given but I think I still need to ask this.
I am in my 4th year of dual degree program at IIT. I 'll have free time in the next semester and a lot of free time from May onwards. So I think it 'll be best time start preparing for GMAT.Here is what i think about my preparation :
I have not started preparing yet.I have also not taken any sample test yet. I am good in maths only issue is practice so i think I ll be able to catch up in some time. I think I am not very good in verbal part because I am weak at English.
Please tell me how should I start preparing, I have January onwards time to prepare(not before that very busy in other things). When should I take GMAT ?
I plan to apply to B-school only after 3-4 years of job experience, but because I have a lot of time next year before passing out i think it will be best to take the GMAT before passing out. Many students here follow the same pattern(prepare for exams during the final year).
All the suggestions are welcome.
It's good that you are planning ahead to take the GMAT while you have time.
You should budget a time for when you intend to study intensely.
Between now and then, you should first take a full-length diagnostic test to get a feel for the test interface and the types of questions you will see.
Then you can slowly study the questions you got wrong, click around forums or the
GMAT Pill Practice Pill and attempt questions here and there when you have free time (lunch break at work, before you go to bed, etc).
Then once you decide to study intensely, set aside at least 5 dedicated sessions focusing only on that section. You mentioned you are weak in verbal. So you can dedicate 5 full study days ONLY to SC in order to maximize your improvement in that specific area.
Then do the same for your next weakest verbal section, and so on.
Eventually, you should mix it all up to ensure you are actually making improvements in all areas - and not falling behind on 1 area.
Take a practice test 1-2 weeks before the real thing. Review, review, review.
As for details of what you should do while focusing on SC - well, that gets very detailed. You can reference this 1 month study plan we have:
