Hi, I'm matriculating part-time at Kellogg in June. I am very happy at my current job (only company I've worked for since undergrad, 5 years now, started as marketing analyst, now at marketing manager). Lots of oppy for growth and challenging environment, good company, I know everybody, opinion is respected on the team, growing my leadership, etc.

I was not looking for a new job at all, but was approached on LinkedIn for a Director of marketing role at another company. Same industry but slightly different kind of company. More pay, more responsibility, thus higher expectations, also closer to my home.

I'm really at a loss for what to do. I'm HAPPY at my current job, and really saw myself staying here for many more years, but this would be a huge step up for me. Is it too far of a jump to go from manager to director? From the job description, it looks like the day to day will be similar, maybe with a little more strategy involved. I ultimately want to grow my career to this level, I just didn't expect it to come so soon and unexpectedly like this.

Does anyone have any opinions on switching to a totally new job 2 months before starting a part-time MBA program? I'm not only worried that I'll be stretching myself too thin with too many changes in a short period, but don't want to set myself up to fail at this new role, if I'm just not ready. The new company is not concerned about this and thinks I'm a great candidate for the position. They say it's really up to me and what I want. The new job/company sound really interesting, but I wasn't looking to leave my current job!

Taking on the MBA part time was going to be a big enough change for me, and now adding a totally new job to that would mean a lot of additional stress. But it does sound like a good opportunity, with a lot of risk of course. Oh, what to do!

Oh also, they have a tuition reimbursement/assistance program as well, whereas my current company doesn't. What timing!

Any opinions? Thanks.
