Same here, got waitlisted in R3.. Does Stern waitlist everyone? From R2 applicants from what I saw in the forum most of them were waitlisted if not admitted :( [I know its just a sample of the applicant pool, but still..]

I would say you got a good chance.
I was admitted back in December and was given a deposit deadline in April.

Dormor, what does it mean for waitlisters that the deposit deadline is only in April?

Well, most schools have deposit deadlines that match the round.
Eg: Jan deposit for Dec admits, Mid-feb deposit for Jan admits.
I was admitted in Dec. and got an April deadline .
I recently decided i'm not going to make the deposit, but since I have more time - 3-4 months extra , i'm taking the time with making the final decision.

So if all admits got an April deposit, they will only know their yeild in April and will be able to work with the waitlist.

I think that system gives the wait list a better chance when you compare it to a school that has deposit deadlines for every round.

Just got my acceptance!

Timeline for those who are curious:
Submitted: 1/15
Invited to interview: 2/10
Interviewed: 2/19
(Submitted transcript since it was delayed in arriving: 2/25)
Accepted: 3/3

Also, for those of you waiting on a decision post-interview, the email subject is "NYU Stern MBA Admissions" and you have to login to status check to see your decision. So don't panic over the lack of content in the email!

Hi all, I have two questions and would love to hear your views on them-
1) The app requires you to list other schools you are applying to. How does everyone plan to tackle this? Do you think it harms to list schools that are well above in the ranking?
2) For international applicants, what if you aren't able to commit that you will be able to showcase 100% of 1st year funds? Do you think it reflects on the admission decision?

I think you have to be honest with them. Stress in the application and in the interview why Stern is a good fit for you. The (optional) video essay is a good way to do that as it shows that you put some thought into your Stern application and took the extra time to do something a little creative. If they like your application and think you fit the school then they are going to admit you, regardless of the other schools you may be applying to. For the school, yes they want to have a high yield, but much more importantly they want an excellent student body.

honestly out of all the schools i have applied stern and yale have the worst process by far. there is no specific mid-decision date..no replies to emails and on top of that they make you travel all the way to nyc for an interview in most cases

I am an Indian applicant and submitted on Jan 13th.
Close to 2 months have gone by and havent heard back. Even the status check web link does not exactly give me a current status.

Are the interviews for Indian applicant held in India only in April ?
And is that the reason why many of the Indian applicants have not heard back ?

Can some experienced folk throw some light on this ?

Thanks !

Well I don't know much about international candidates but was told you need to fly to nyc for interviews. This experience with nyu almost makes me not want to go there.i am banking on fuqua and fuqua only after being waitlisted at hbs.

Can someone tell me when the specific date in April is the deposit deadline? I am on the waitlist and I'm hoping the deposit date will trigger more movement on the waitlist. Thanks!

Congrats!! Can I just ask if the status changes on the status website or a different one? I interviewed last tuesday and am literally biting my nails off..

Good Luck to everyone.

It's on the status website, and a button will appear on the bottom of the page that says "view status letter." Good luck!!

Unfortunate that Stern does not mention mid decision deadlines......have people (round 3 applicants) received interview invites in mar as well?

Congrats on getting invited for interview! The good news is that roughly 70% of people who are interviewed get accepted, so if you felt that the interview went well then you will probably get in. I heard back from Stern about 3 weeks after interviewing, but I interviewed right before Christmas break and they were out of office for 2 weeks. It seems that most people hear in 1 to 2 weeks, so you should hear pretty soon. Surprisingly, I got the email that my status was updated around 7 o’clock, so the admissions staff must be working late hours.

It surprises me that NYU’s acceptance rate is so low at 13%, but they are ranked 10th.
