Hi All -
Hoping someone can provide me some advice-I'm still in the pool of applicants waiting to hear from Stern.
I'm currently located in SF, but last week received an offer to work for an organization in NYC. This job is a huge promotion for me and a step in the right direction for what I want to do long term. I wrote about this job in the option essay- that I was interviewing and planning on moving to NYC this summer and will be able to work for about 2 months before starting in the Langone program.
My question is, now that I've actually gotten the job, should I email the adcom and let them know? Or do we think that this is pestering them, especially since I already wrote that I was in the final interview stages with the organization.
Any thoughts would be helpful,
Thanks.
First of all, congratulations on the promotion/new job Rona0521! I would think this update would be useful and helpful to the admissions committee--it shows that you're growing in your career and that progression is something they look for in the work history/resume. Also, the fact that you will be working in the city might alleviate some concern of you not completing the program entirely due to location or day-job reasons. If I were you, I would send them a short e-mail (a few sentences should suffice) reiterating your enthusiasm as well as letting them know about this update. It wouldn't come off as "pestering" if you're not pushing them for a quick decision, but simply providing them additional info on why they should accept you.
Just curious, would you take the job regardless of Stern's decision? And how long can you wait before giving a reply to this employer? I lived in the SF Bay Area for a few years, loved it there, and would've applied to Haas if I was still there. Anyway, that's my two cents; see what others think.
