This wait is almost unbearable...Can someone shed some light with how many remaining spots are left to fill? Much appreciate!!!!! Are there a lot of spots left to be filled or are we near the end of the ride with the rest of the people waiting pretty much out?
Thanks My best guess is there are 150 spots or so left. Once you are admitted and claim your stern ID you can access Stern Links, which is a one-stop portal for Stern's web resources. It seems to have some sort of collaboration feature, and new langone students are being placed in a group called ptnewadmits. The group currently has 304 members. I was added by the admin the day after I paid my deposit, but I can't say for sure whether the 304 is only inclusive of students who have paid their deposit, or all those admitted. But don't freak out yet!!! 150 spots is still 1/3 of the typical class size. Best of luck to all those still waiting.

So, I know we're keeping track of all our stats and acceptance statuses on the spreadsheet. But what do the numbers NOT show? Anyone want to share?
I can start. By numbers alone, I'm probably not the strongest of candidates. I got a low GPA, and my GMAT was ok (640).
What else is there to my candidacy? I believe I wrote really strong essays that explained, but didn't excuse, my undergrad GPA. So I don't reveal exactly who I am on this forum, I will basically say here that I had a side career during college that took up a lot of my time and energy. Thankfully, I still earned a fairly prestigious scholarship and got A's in some of the difficult courses I took, while I let the courses that should have been easy A's (drama, jazz singing, etc.) slide. Since then, I have been promoted at a Fortune 500 company several times due to some high-profile projects I've successfully lead. I was able to get strong (I think!) recommendations from a couple high-level executives here with whom I have worked closely over these years.
Maybe my numbers weren't great, but I think my experience may have pushed me over the edge. I'm curious to find out others' stories and why they chose Stern.

I'm a first time poster and am waiting to hear back from ad-com. Cantwaitlangone, thanks for posting about your background behind the numbers. It's encouraging considering I too don't seem like a strong candidate based on the numbers alone. However, I feel like my pre- and post-college experience (entrepreneurial and unique blend of corp exp), essays (I spent a lot of time on these, especially the personal expression), and extracurricular activities (quality volunteer work) speak closer to my abilities and explain why I would be a perfect match more than a GPA and a GMAT score. Anyways, we'll just have to wait and see if ad-com feels the same. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

I have been put on the wait-list. Any advice on what i can do to help my case? Also could those of you who have been admitted please keep posting the part time student count? It will be of great help to people on the wait-list.
Thanks again for all the info. 406 now.

Any other Stern PT applicants out there? I realized that "Fall 2012" is listed in the post which I'm assuming is a typo and probably the reason that more people haven't signed up.. or there's just nobody applying and my chances are better than I thought

Re: Stern Part-time 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]

How easy is it for someone to start the part-time program in September 2012 and then transfer to the full time program in January 2013? I really want to start B-school in the Fall but I've missed MOST of the deadlines, and September 2013 just seems SO FAR away. So I've been thinking that maybe it might be better to start part-time in the Fall of 2012 for 1 semester. Any thoughts?

KAS1 - Stern doesn't allow part-time MBA students to transfer into their full time program. I don't know of any top programs that allow this. Stern does have an accelerated format where you can finish the part-time in 2 years, but you can't take part in any on campus recruiting made available to the full-time students.

Bmay44 -- you are right. I contacted Stern and they said that since the PT and FT programs are different, they will not allow part-timers to transfer into the FT program. Good to know!
