Stern Part-Time Spring 2013
Here are the stats for the 2013 application season. If any questions, please let me know. Also, if anyone would like to be the threadmaster (leader) of this discussion/thread - please PM me. We could use a good leader.
Doubtful. The deadline was September 15th and based on past boards most people do apply around the deadline. Also NYU starts sending out decisions as early as the first week of October. Hopefully the low activity here means my odds of admission have increased
On an unrelated note, I am surprised at the low number of applications that Stern's part time program receives. It is the defacto No 1 Part Time program in New York City, and you would think there would be more than 800 applicants who want to keep their job AND get the same MBA degree that people who are taking 2 years out of the workforce get. I understand the logic of getting and internship and building a network to foster a switch in careers, buy ONLY 800 people in the entire city want to stay in their same industry/company and get an MBA?
Numbers don't lie but I'm just surprised...Part-Time MBA seems like a great deal to me if you are able to shoulder the multiple demands.

Maybe folks are just waiting to finish up their earlier deadline schools before turning to NYU??? Happens, eeeevery year. And NYU seems to aim for it, even.

Hello! I heard back from admissions today (around 10am), and have been asked to come in and complete an interview for the Spring 2013 Part-time program. Very exciting news since NYU is absolutely my first choice and my GPA/GMAT are both on the low end of Stern's range. I'll be interviewing on 11/5...wish me luck!
Any advice or tips you all have would be appreciated
Hope some of you hear back today as well!

- 3.03 GPA - 600 GMAT - A little over 4 years work experience with the last year and a half in the Marketing deptartment of a Pharmaceutical company (I indicated in my essays that I would like to stay at my company and move into a specific marketing position.) - Solid volunteer work during high school, college, and after as indicated on my resume and in my essays. - Also, 1 of my 2 recommendations is from my current boss who is a Stern alum and holds a fairly high level marketing position.

Welp, I was waitlisted for Spring 2013 PT
GMAT: 700 GPA: < 3.0 (weak area) from state university Work Experience: 4.5 years Supply Chain/Operations Project Manager, Fortune 20 Healthcare conglomerate, two promotions with a rotational cross country move
I think my essays were excellent. I have very diverse work experience, people management (wage and salary), and a full sponsorship, so I think I had a lot of material to go with. Two recommendations (current manager and former manager, an Ivy League MBA grad). I'm almost positive it was my underwhelming undergraduate work that dragged me down. I plan on writing an essay and soliciting a higher level recommendation. If I can't get an interview/acceptance this round, I'll register for a few classes and try to ace them to prove I'm a better candidate.

710 GMAT 3.44 Undergrad GPA 3.5 years of experience in technology w/ tons of global management experience Superb essays (literally spent hours scrutinizing every word, ensuring it worked with the overall theme/picture) Recommendations from close managers, which I'm guessing were stellar Solid list of extracurricular that encompassed art, culture and sports
