Sticky situation for recommendations [#permalink] New post 08 Jan 2013, 01:19
I started working for my current company just 8 months back. Therefore, the most challenging projects I worked on are at the previous company where I worked for 3 years.I left my earlier company on good terms. However, my ex-manager (manager A) at that company wasn't too happy that I left the company. He was a good manager but he never really liked anyone leaving the company. So, I am not too sure if I should approach him to write a recommendation.

The team at my previous company was split between two managers manager A and manager B. I reported to manager A, however manager A reported to manager B for 1.5 years. Later (for the next 1.5 years), manager A and manager B reported to the same director. Although I reported to manager A, manager B as well was well-aware of my work. In fact manager B hired me into the position.

Is it ok for me to get a recommendation from manager B instead of manager A considering he knows my work well enough to write a good recommendation?

Thanks a lot. I know the post was confusing.

Any manager or former manager who can speak to your performance favorably and can provide anecdotal insight into your work would be fine.
