I have decent work experience, am a sophomore in college, and preparing for the GMAT. Other than doing well academically, and getting a good GMAT, what things can one do to improve his or her chances at a program like HBS, Wharton, Stanford, Columbia, MIT ?

p.s. If i spent a year at a junior college while working full time, and transferred to complete the remaining 3 years of my undergrad, will that affect me in any way?
