Stocks of cod, a commercial fish found off the Northeast coasts of
the American continent, have dwindled alarmingly in the last two
decades. Although cod populations recovered slightly after fishing
licences were restricted a few years ago, they have since resumed
their precipitous decline. However, if the annual harvest of cod is
drastially reduced, populations will reboud to their former healthy
natural levels.

The solution to the problem of declining cod populations offered
above assumes that

a. the demand of cod will decrease in the future.
b.fluctuations in the population of cod are solely the result of
fishing pressure from humans.
c. fishing pressure from other countries besides the US and Canada
has an insignifigant effect on cod populations levels.
d. tighter fishing license restrictions are an effective way to
reduce the annual harvest of cod.
e. observed declines in the population of cod are linked to consumer
demand for cod.

Oh Yeah B again.

The correct response is B. The solution offered in the passage
assumes that reducing fishing pressure alone will be sufficient to
return cod populations to their former levels, ignoring the
possibility of other factors such as pollution.Since B best describes
the assumption behind the solution above, choice B is the best
response. None of the other choice list assumptions of the solution.
