protest their overworking ...

looks right..

something like "i protest my exploitation"...

u need a noun here... i think overworking is doing the same...

I will take A.

The nurses are protesting against someone else's action. D seems to imply that the nurses are protesting against themselves.

I think passive voice is required in this case.

A. We need to show that the nurses are protesting an action performed by someone else.

B/C-"Themselves" is the reflexive form of "they", "Their" is the possessive form of they. We need the possessive to attribute "being overworked" back to the nurses.

E makes it sound as though the nurses overworked themselves
D does not convey the action properly

I think it should be B as the pronoun themselves is correctly placed in the object of the sentence.
