students born outside US vs. international students [#permalink] New post 03 Aug 2008, 15:37
Hi folks,
I'm looking at Tuck's 2008 class profile (http://www.tuck.dartmouth.edu/pdf/t08-class-profile.pdf) and noticed that they distinguish between % of class born outside US and international students...

International Students: 35%
Students born outside US: 36%

I'm curious about how they distinguish between the two categories...Are international students just non-US citizens?

Cheers,
ac.

you got it. for example, i am a U.S. citizen but i was born outside the United States. I am "born outside the U.S." but not an "international student".

Does this mean that they only have 2-3 (1%) students that are US Citizens that were born outside the USA? That's shockingly low, if so.

Huh. That's good to know :)
given that the difference between the two is so low, why would they call it out? I don't think most schools do that...
