Not necessarily. If there are 2 baskets of snakes on the plane, such that the speaker/writer is tired of the snakes in one of them, either these or those is correct. I think this question is messed up.
I think A is correct. C changes the meaning to refer to another set of snakes
I don't want to travel by planes now, thinking of it...
