I have chosen to go for a private tutor but I heard that his score on GMAT is 650.I am not sure whether he can help a lot to get me a 600+ score.Should I look for a tutor who has score of 700+?

I would definitely look for someone with more experience and has a higher score! If he is a good tutor there is no reason why he should not have a score above 700 at least. Have you considered taking a gmat course?

Everyone has different learning styles - so do what suits you.

Your instructor's score doesn't need to be the absolute best. But I'd certainly recommend finding someone who at least scored in the 90th percentile or higher - preferably someone who didn't need to prepare for a long period of time. From there, I would narrow it down to someone's style you like the most.

I studied alone and found myself lost.. I have followed many rules suggested by top scorer but still haven't seen any improvement. So now I am thinking about a private tutor, who can give me an exact path to follow to increase my score..

I would not suggest a private tutor with a score of 650. How can someone teach if they are unable to do well themselves? For instance, Manhattan GMAT doesn't hire any tutor that has less than 99% (aka 750+). They do this for a reason. Obviously you will pay more for more highly educated and experienced tutors. But I would definitely suggest going for someone that has a reputation. There are many great comapanies on our website that would be happy to help!

BUt more importantly, you need to figure out why you're not having the success you want. Maybe you need to try some new materials? Maybe going back to foundations so you can build up to more advanced topics. Maybe you just need to spend more time, or quality studying. It's hard to say... only YOU will know the answer.

Good luck! We look forward to supporting you in your journey!

Thanks a lot for the reply..Actually I am frustrated..I worked really hard for 4 months and ended up with a score of 460 n a AWA 4.I used many materials and revised those again and again ..after the first attempt I studied the same thing again to build a good foundation but I found that my score is still in the 480 to 500 level...So I thought I should contact with someone who can show me a definite guideline to score a 600+ score..I know I am not that good to score a 700 range..I have found another private tutor who has a score 690..n he is also a GRE instructor..I don't know how much he will be helpful ..Can anyone give me some more ideas to improve my score? Thanks
