Supplemental Essay (to put GPA in context)

I was a marginal student in college (business major) and law school. I was never able to focus in class or on studying so I would do just enough to get by (often waiting until the last minute to prepare and/or study, and I would routinely skip class). About two years ago, and 5 years into my career as a lawyer, I was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder (ADD). Thereafter, I started taking medication and I could really notice the difference with respect to my level of concentration. Overnight, I became a 'new' person as I was now able to stay focused throughout the day and work without the distractions that previously haunted me.
As I work on my b-school essays, I am wondering whether I should submit a supplemental essay or statement to explain my lackluster GPA. Although I believe that it provides a justifiable reason for an average GPA, I could also envision a scenario where an admission's office would not look favorably on such an essay/statement. What should I do? Any advice?
Thank you
