Susan: Those who oppose experimentation on animals do not properly value the preservation of human life. Although animal suffering is unfortunate, it is justifiable if it can lead to cures for human ailments.
Melvin: But much animal experimentation involves testing of ordinary consumer products such as soaps, dyes, and cosmetics.
Susan: These experiments are justifiable on the same grounds, since cleanliness, convenience, and beauty are worthwhile human values deserving of support.
Which of the following is the best statement of the logical flaw in Susan’s argument?
(A) Her claim that animal experimentation is justifiable if it supports human values contradicts her claim that such experimentation is justifiable only if it leads to cures for human ailments.
(B) She places a higher value on human cleanliness, convenience, and beauty than she does on the preservation of animal life.
(C) She uses the word “valueâ€

A for me. Rest don;t make sense.

(A) Her claim that animal experimentation is justifiable if it supports human values contradicts her claim that such experimentation is justifiable only if it leads to cures for human ailments.

Her statements do contradict and she ios shifting scope from one justification to another. This is a flaw. Correct.

(B) She places a higher value on human cleanliness, convenience, and beauty than she does on the preservation of animal life.

Not necessarily.

(C) She uses the word “valueâ€

i dont think that its A), because she says "it can lead to cures for human ailments" and not that it "is justifiable only if it leads to cures for human ailments"

IMO its C) or E)

C) because she uses "value" in two different ways. first "preservation of life" which has stronger impact than her second describtion of values as "beauty" and "convenience"

E) in her first argument she point out the "preservation of life", but she does not support it in her second argument by saying that it supports human life. how does the support of human life actually save lifes ?

i think that C) is more a logical flaw than E) is. E) is more like the conclusion of the logicial flaw. so i will go with C)
