Sven: Trade unions are traditionally regarded by governments and economists as restraints of trade, working against the complete freedom of the economy, but I believe that unions are indispensable since they are often the worker’s only protection against exploitation.

Ravi: I don’t agree. The exploitation of the workers and their work is a normal part of ordinary trade just like the exploitation of natural or other material resources.

Sven and Ravi will not be able to resolve their disagreement logically unless they
(A) define a key term
(B) rely on the opinions of established authorities
(C) question an unproved premise
(D) present supporting data
(E) distinguish fact from opinion

Tough one.

I go for A.

Sven is talking about different expoiltation in a different context and Ravi is talking about expoiltation is a different context. They must first define the term expoiltation.

Both talks about trade context.

I will go for E.

Other options are not so close.

IMO, it's A.
We can not compare the exploitation of the workers and their work to exploitation of natural or other material resources.
Unless Ravi and Sven define this key term "exploitation", they will not be able to resolve their disagreement logically.

I agree with A. They need to agree on a definition for 'exploitation'. Explointing natural resources is indeed a normal part of business, but exploiting people has definite negative connotations.

Will go with A on this one.
I think they have to determine the what degree of exploitation is acceptable and what is not. According to Ravi exploitation is there in all aspects. May be the Unions protect the workers from more serious exploitation.
So accurate def. is needed to resolve agreement

The two have different interpretations of "exploitation." In essence, it can be used in both a poitive and negative sense, depending on context.

Late but A should be the answer.

Sven refers to exploitation of workers while Ravi links exploitation of material things with exploitation of humans.
