switch company or suck it up? [#permalink]
22 Feb 2013, 09:16
this might be a stupid quetion but I want to hear your opinion... I definitely want to get my MBA asap but I sure will have a better chance in R1'14 than R3'13, (I have a 2.5 undergrad GPA to overcome) my current job is not challenging anymore, I am getting nice paychecks and good recommendations from bosses but it's not fun any more. Switch to another company and apply in 10/2013 is a bad idea, correct? I should just suck it up for another 6 months and stay at my current company for consistency right? (I have lots of freedom at my current company I can focus on school visits and applications but the job itself is becoming daily routine) I will have 6yrs experience at matriculation/30yrs old. Thanks for your thoughts.

1. It's not just about another 6 months. It's about the next year or year and a half of your life. Can you last that long there? 2. Are your recs from your current job? Can you leave without burning those bridges? 3. Do you have a new job in mind or can you challenge yourself with a new role in your current company? Getting a new job in Feb/March won't hurt your fall application as long as you can explain why you made the move and how it will help you reach your goals. The same goes for any lateral move or promotion (not that you would turn down a promotion). Just some food for thought. Posted from my mobile device

SM0421, I think you need to spend some time looking(deep dive) at your strategy overall. Looking through your post history, you've:
You've stated you'd like to go into Automotive Marketing. You've stated "HBS, Stanford, Wharton, MIT, Columbia" as the only places your interested in for full time Only applied to HBS and Stanford, with no interview dings your backround is sub 2.5 gpa from top chinese engineering school, top student in your MS from Bentley in marketing, a 770 GMAT, good internships and 4.5 years of experience at 3 different companies.
My first thoughts are: a 4th Job in 5 years raises concern unless you can expertly justify it. Other thoughts: Your scope is very narrow. If you want auto marketing I cannot see why Kellogg! and Ross are not top choices.
