I'm a teacher looking (social studies) to shift to accounting. I've applied to the MAC program at UNC's Kenan-Flagler School of business. Although I taught social studies, I have a decent background in mathematics (Calc I, II, III; Statistics) and have taken Micro. Although the program doesn't require an accounting background (even prohibits more than 12 hours of accounting credit), how would a background in teaching appear to admissions? Also, how would my stats fare in terms of both admission and securing funding?

UGrad GPA: 3.97
Major GPA (Political Science): 4.0
Math GPA (12 cred hours): 4.0
[Only non-A was Organic Chem...argh!]

GRE: 1440
Q: 780
V: 660

Work Experience
Presidential campaign, field organizer in IA
Long-term sub at school for at-risk students
Middle School Teacher (Social Studies)

ECs
Department Liaison to School of Social Sciences Advisory Council
President of College Political Club

Awards
Department Best Paper Award (2 consecutive years)
Summa cum Laude graduate
Sole recipient of dept. scholarship

Any feedback is appreciated. UNC is my dream school - the program looks stellar. Any experiences of impressions of those in the program or who've graduated are also appreciated!
