Linda,
Purely from an MBA perspective - I've been working for a big (corporate) law firm for the last 6 months now. I definitely enjoy it, but I know I do not want to stay in corporate law for the rest of my life, hence I want to apply for a (top) MBA program. Recently, I have been talking to various people from MBB (McKinsey, Bain, BCG) whether I am interested in making a switch. Obviously no guarantees, but there is a reasonable chance I will get an offer from (one of) them. Does it make sense to make this switch from an MBA perspective? I don't want to come across as a job hopper and at the time of my application, I will only have spent 12 months as a lawyer (excluding internships) and then 14 months as a management consultant at MBB (24 months at MBB and 12 months in biglaw upon matriculation).
Would you, aside from career goals after, recommend sticking to law until post-MBA in order to make a greater impact in one field or switch to MBB?
Thanks in advance!
Knowing only what is in this post and assuming you want to get an MBA to go into consulting or a business-related field, from an MBA admissions perspective, I encourage you to switch.
Best,
Linda
