1) the median of the set is positive

2) There is an integer -7 in the set.

Sorry if something doesn't make sense in the question, but that's all I could remember!!! :wink:

Sure, I'll try.

(A) if there are 16 consecutive integers, and the median is positive, then the "least" set that we could have is...

-7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Where the median is 1 and the sum is positive. All other examples will have a higher median and therefore a higher positive sum.

A is suff.

(B) In this example, one possibility is the set above in A. Another example could be like

-12 -11 -10 -9 -8 -7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3

This sum would be negative. So we have shown one possibility where the sum is positive and one where it is negative.

Thus, B is not suff.

0 is an even integer, but neither positive nor negative.

That's a good thing to know.

since 16 is even is the median the middle two numbers=0+1=1/2?
