Hi,

I have been responding to the math section questions for quite some time and I strongly feel that a table widget should be added to the list of widgets available.

 This widget could specify the number of rows and columns to be present in the table. Specifically I would like the widget to be added in the below section. Upon clicking the table widget, the table should appear inline and the authors could use it for adding the values.

This could greatly improve the usability and reduce the time taken to format the post.

Thank you very much for this suggestion and for putting up a screenshot.
We do have a table "widget" but it is not friendly and having done some searching, there are no friendly tables :(

Here is what you you can do today. The question, is it simple enough code that anyone can figure out? That's one reason we did not put up a shortcut into the menu bar you kindly attached (thank you).

Cell 1Cell 2
Cell 3Cell 4

Here is the code for it

Code:
[table]
[tr][td]Cell 1[/td][td]Cell 2[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Cell 3[/td][td]Cell 4[/td][/tr]
[/table]

Example 2

Table
Cell 1Cell 2
Cell 3Cell 4

Code:
[table]
[tdo=2]Table[/tdo]
[tr][td]Cell 1[/td][td]Cell 2[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Cell 3[/td][td]Cell 4[/td][/tr]
[/table]

I guess these are the raw html tags used for creating the tables. Anyways these would work and make it easier while posting tables in the post.

Thanks for the sample code :)

Yes, unfortunately this is the only way. I can rename TR to be ROW and TD to be CELL if that helps....
Any other suggestions are very welcome!

Yes, it would help simplify the code.

Also this sample code could be shown as a pop up text when the mouse (move) over action occurs on the "Formatting and Formulas Help" text. [See attached inline image.]

This would serve as a reference code as there could be problems if any one of the tag is not properly enclosed within another or is not closed. [This could be useful even with the Preview functionality available.]
