Taking GMAT last week of February applying for Fall 2013 [#permalink]
29 Dec 2012, 13:11
Hi all, I've taken the GMAT 3 times with a 580 score each time. I'm currently enrolled in manhattan gmat courses online which will end mid February. I'll be taking the GMAT in last week of February, is this too late for Fall 2013 enrollment for a decent U.S. business school?

Most schools have their R2 deadlines within the next week or so, so yes, that's too late to have any bearing on this year's admissions cycle.

Would it be a bad idea to apply with a GMAT score of 580? I've worked in operations for 4 years and have a BBA in finance from Baruch College with a 3.5 GPA.

It depends. What programs would you be targeting? Posted from my mobile device

Full time programs anywhere in the U.S.
I'm not sure where my full profile would rank, but I'm looking at schools like Hough (Univ of Florida), Simon (Univ of Rochester), and some state schools in NY (SUNY Stonybrook for example).

I would say take another good stab at the GMAT. If you get a good score, it's still viable to apply round three to the schools you mentioned since they're not the uber-selective schools and a good application would still be welcome late in the game. A 580 is still going to be tough sledding at those schools (see if they publish their mid-80 %ile). Since you've only got 4 yrs of experience, it's not the end of the world if you target Round 1 next year. Good luck!
