B. "them that have" is ackward and "each" is singular hence has to be followed by the singular verb "has". D. subject vern agreement agian E. same as D A. I thought "them" was plural therefore I went with C.

In A ,"called taste pore" is not at the right place In B, "have" is the wrong tense. In D, "having" is the present participle. This is not needed here. In E, "have" is the wrong tense.

CThe choice is definitely between A and C A. them has fingerlike projections poking through the opening located at the top of the taste bud called the taste poreC. which has fingerlike projections poking through the opening, called the taste pore, located at the top of taste bud 1. 'them' vs. 'which'. 'which' unambiguously refers to 'cells' ('which' modifies preceding noun), but 'them' refers to 'cells' or 'structures'. 2. In C 'called' modifies 'the opening', but in A it incorrectly modifies 'test bud'.

A. them has fingerlike projections poking through the opening located at the top of the taste bud called the taste pore [ Hold it – “them” clearly pointing to “Subject of the Sentence” Taste Buds – hold it] B. them that have fingerlike projections that poke through an opening located at the top of the taste bud, which they call the taste pore [ changes the meaning of the sentence – eliminate it] C. which has fingerlike projections poking through the opening, called the taste pore, located at the top of taste bud [ “Which” cannot point to “Taste Buds” – eliminate it] D. which having fingerlike projections that poke through an opening, which is called the taste pore, located at the top of the taste bud E. which have fingerlike projections that are poking through an opening located at the top of the taste bud called the taste pore

OA: C
I also chose A.
C is correct by using a relative pronoun, 'which' to convert an IC to a subordinate clause, 'each of which..' -- otherwise, as it stands, the sentence is a run on sentence.
Also, A also changes the meaning with the palcement of 'at the top of the taste bud called the taste pore' -- seems to indicate that the 'taste bud' is called taste pore, when it should be the 'opening'

A. them has fingerlike projections poking through the opening located at the top of the taste bud called the taste pore C. which has fingerlike projections poking through the opening, called the taste pore, located at the top of taste bud
1. 'them' vs. 'which'. 'which' unambiguously refers to 'cells' ('which' modifies preceding noun), but 'them' refers to 'cells' or 'structures'. 2. In C 'called' modifies 'the opening', but in A it incorrectly modifies 'test bud'. Agree Walker - in C the "called the taste pore" is closer to its definition "has fingerlike projections" in A the taste pore is placed far away.
