Teaching English overseas after I apply [#permalink]

Hi all

Right now I'm currently unemployed (risk of working at startups). I've taken 3 months off since to study full time for the GMATs, spent the last month traveling around Asia and now starting to deal with applications.

I've given serious consideration to teaching English overseas after I finish applying to bschools. I would do it in a heartbeat but I don't know if/how it will help or hurt my chances (specifically with the way my career is progressing).

Would this hurt or help my application? Should I apply for a full time job instead?

Thoughts would be appreciated

If you're planning to go to school this fall, I don't know ethical it is to get a full-time job. I mean, you have to pay the bills, of course, but your employers are unlikely to appreciate you giving them slip after 12 months (or less, most likely).

I think teaching abroad is a neat thing to do.

If you start after you apply you will need to contact the admissions office to let them know. My cousin taught over in Japan for a year and a friend of mine taught in China. I thought most places require you to commit for a year which would make it a close call to when you start take a look at whats required for different locations. I think that it would definitely broaden a persons background and would let you bring something unique to the table.
