Hi

As you can see below I received a 760, 6.0 on my first attempted GMAT. I could never have done it without the help of GMATCLUB. I found the information here that I needed to choose the right books, understand how to write the essays, and feel more confident when taking the test. Then I did all the hard work. Nonetheless: Thank you so much, this has been invaluable to giving me great opportunities in life.

Two days ago, I received a letter in the mail from Notre Dame's Mendoza MBA that read like this:

Quote:
You have been identified as a potential Kenneth R. Meyer Fellowship Candidate, by the University of Notre Dame and the Graduate Management Admission Search Service. As the most prestigious fellowship awarded by the Mendoza College of Business, Meyer Fellows are granted full tuition waivers and a stipend for living expenses up to $12,500. While I cannot guarantee outcomes for these highly competitive fellowships Oess than 10 were granted in 2010), I see your potential and would encourage you to explore our program.

My experience tells me that a student with your background will undoubtedly be recruited by a number of schooIs.

The letter also had a hand written note from the admissions officer: "Hope to hear from you soon!" Lack of money and funds has and still is a problem when it comes to education for me, so this is HUGE.

I hope that I will eventually get more letters like this from perhaps even better schools (my dream is to go to Harvard), so THANK YOU GMATCLUB. You played an important part in making this happen.

edit: If this is not the appropriate forums for this type of post, then I apologize and hope the mods can move it.

Please explain you preparation experiencefor GMAT in more details

I read the Manhattan GMAT books almost twice, highlighting everything that was important. Doing all the practice questions in the GMAC book (only bought the red one). I studied about 5 hours per day, every day (including weekends) for about 8 weeks. I skipped out on my class in law school, deciding to retake the class later. Then I kept practicing on where I thouht that I was the weakest, constantly looking for wekanesses in and practicing to get better in those areas. I never practiced the essay writing, but went on the forums the day before the GMAT and checked the guide for writing essay. Memorized some of it and and then just made arguments, I like to make arguments though, on the test. I never used books 6 and 7 which are Logical Reasoning and Reading comprehension because I felt I was already very strong in those areas. I have never even opened them. Too late I discovered that I could take practice tests with Manhattan online. But I had heard that sometimes unofficial practice questions do not reflect the ones on the actual GMAT and therefore stuck to only using official practice questions to not fall in that trap. I would perhaps recommend getting the verbal and the math book with practice questions from GMAC. I did all the questions in the red book, but felt I could have used some more.

On the actual test I was unable to focus fully, felt nervous, and tired and stressed. I did 2-3 mistakes on the math parth and none on the verbal. If I had not done the mistakes on the math I would probably have gotten 780 (Q50, V47), instead I got a 760 (Q49, V47). But I am happy, even though I of course wish I had a 780 instead.

Also I used the GMATPrep software to diagnose myself after 4 weeks and after 6 weeks, to see how I was doing, motivate myself and spot any weaknesses.

Also got the SC PDF book from GMATclub, but never had time to use it, unfortunately.

-HappyTrojan.

No. English is my second, language. Swedish is my first language. I went to an English speaking high school to prepare for studying in the U.S. And then went to USC in los angeles. But still, I am doing better in English than many native speakers. This was also true when taking english classes in college.

Thank you so much! :) Yes, I was brought up to believe in hard work and purposely did military service to learn more about hard work.
