The average of four distinct positive integers is 60. How many integers of these four are smaller than 50?

1) One of the integers is 200
2) The median of the four integers is 50


Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but Statement (2) ALONE is not sufficient
Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but Statement (1) ALONE is not sufficient
BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient
EACH statement ALONE is sufficient
Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient

Can someone explain to me #2?

{a,b,c,d}
a+b+c+d = 240

stmt1: with lets say d= 200, 3 integers will be less than 50
stmt2: since there are 4 integers, median = (b+c)/2
So, b+c = 100 --> d >50 and a<50
Since b and c can't be equal to 50, one will be below 50, and next will be above 50
So, 2 integers will be less than 50.

Now, is it allowed in GMAT to get two different answers ? or am I doing it wrong ?

Gotcha, since they are distinct integers, they both can't be 50.

The correct answer is D.
