First of all, its a Good Question. It tricks you easily.

From the first look, its very tempting to choose A as the Answer. But if we just deconstuct the Question Stem logically, its very easy to spot the right answer.

Claim :- Socities can attain more benfit than harm from a revolution.

Evidence :- The case of the American Revolution.

Now, from the word "But" onwards ( But even the American Revolution.....) it talks about the Evidence for not being consistent.

Now, among the answer options, only C talks about evidence & that's THE Correct Answer :) :-D

Please post the question with a white space between "Claim and argued" ... For sometime I was thinking "claimargued" as a single word and thinking what it would mean.

Nice Question!

The case of the American Revolution is generally is generally regarded as the best evidence for the claim that societies can attain more benefit than harm from a revolution. But even the american revolution serves this role poorly, since America at the time of the Revolution had a unique advantage. Despite the Revolution, the same civil servants and functionaries remained in office, carrying on the day-to-day work of the government, and thus many of the disruptions that revolutions bring were avoided.

(C) opposing (how? american revolution serves this role poorly) a claim (what is the claim? societies can attain more benefit than harm from a revolution) by undermining (how? the Revolution had a unique advantage) evidence (what is the evidence? The case of the American Revolution) offered in support of that claim

Am I correct?
