Between B and D, I pick D. D looks concise!

The idomatic usage is decide to do something instead of decide on doing something, I believe.

hi Mun23,
"for" is also underlined in them. hence in option D.
"years profits research and development" doesn't make sense.

also there seems 2 be an idiomatic error in "decided on using" but i m not sure..
also in option B "used for research" is // to "than for a shareholder dividend"...

The chairman is singular so "has" is correct.
That leaves us with B and D.
D does not flow. (D)...has decided on using this years profits research and development...
It is missing a "for" so B is the correct answer.

The chairman of the board of directors have decided that this year's profits will be used for research and development, rather than for a shareholder dividend.

(B)has decided that this years profits will be used
(D)has decided on using this year`s profits

I chose D because, 1) decided on is a correct phrase for this statement 2) this option is short and concise.

The chairman of the board of directors have decided that this year's profits will be used for research and development, rather than for a shareholder dividend.

"the board of directors" is singular so A and C are discarded

(A) have decided that this year's profits will be used
(B) has decided that this year's profits will be used
(C) have decided on using this year's profits
(D) has decided on using this year's profits- has decided on + "noun/noun phrase" would need to be "the use of"
(E) decided this year's profits will have been used - the tenses do not make sense

A and C are out because chairman is singular.

E is out because it is weird.(Can't Explain)

Between B and D,
In D, use of -ing form is unnecessary. Why add an -ing form unnecessarily and complicate it when a straightforward and simple option is there in B?

I guess we it uses -ing form of use. We should prefer simple past/present over continuous whenever possible.
Hence B
