The company claimed to have created a backpack so capacious that it could simultaneously hold for textbooks, a laptop computer, and necessary school supplies and so light and well-designed that even a seventh-grader could wear it comfortably.
(A) supplies and so lightneed to bring out contrast between capacious and light - and is incorrect
(B) supplies so lightsupplies are not light, bag is
(C) supplies, and it was so lightcould paralleled with was is wrong, needs to bring out contrast
(D) supplies, yet being so lightuse of being is not preferred
(E) supplies, yet so lightcorrect

To show the proper traits of the backpack, "comma" is necessary. "it" has no referrent in C. "being" is incorrect because its not a temporary action ; backpacks are light and well designed.

There must be a reason why "being" should be eliminated. Eliminating it just after seeing is wrong approach.

Doesn't "It" clearly refer to "a backpack" ?

According to me this one stands out only on contrast grounds so we dump "and" and pick up "yet". :)

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Break the sentence into the two traits.
1)The company claimed to have created a backpack so capacious that it could simultaneously hold for textbooks, a laptop computer, and necessary school supplies.

2)The company claimed to have created a backpack it was so light. Did you notice the error?
Although "it" refers backpack ,the construction becomes illogical as seen just now.

And BTW you were not wrong.
