Nopes! The correct answer is "E".

I picked D at first, but E is better. The original sentence expressed certainty with 'will make', the answer should too.

WILL" is required here to show something that will happen in future after thet company has announced bla blah blah.....

Down to AE

A is out coz 'which' reference which is wrong

Go with E

In D an extra 'a' between as & part is making the sentence unidiomatic. Hence we can go for E .

It's straight E.
Also notice the use of "will" in E.

I'm going down with E. Check it out the //.ism ---> Will purchase....will make.
Looking good!

Answer: E

"Will" is required to convey future course of action.
"As part of a deal" is idiomatic.

by why C is wrong,
pls help expert. only when understanding fully why C is wrong, we can be confident

I am a struggling GMAT student and hope someone will help me with the explanation on why answer choice "B" is not correct. I choose B only for the reason Company -> Singular and hence it should have "Makes" which is singular.

Hi getisb, that in B is modifying deal, not company.

Hi EducationAisle

Should that modify deal ?

deal that makes the company --> is correct and that is what is in E as well.

I eliminated for the reason
First part was Independent clause next is dependent clause.

and pattern for complex sentence is :

DC,IC ( with comma) and IC DC ( no comma if IC comes first)

so i eliminated..
but if there is an better way .. i would like to learn.

Hi Shrivathsan, are you talking about option B?

If yes, then second part is not a dependent clause in B; it's just a phrase.

Second part is not a stand alone Dependent clause, but has the following structure: phrase (a part of a deal) + a Dependent clause (that makes it the largest manufacturer in the office color-printing market).

Such structures serve as phrases (in this case, more specifically, it's called an appositive).

In B, the meaning is incorrect. It seems to suggest that $950 million is part of a deal!

However, the intended meaning is that the purchase (of the color-printing division) is being done as part of the deal.
