will go for D..but by poe d is only option left..
correct idiom is attempt to and not attempt at so option B,C n E are gone..
left wid A and D
in A it does not hav any antecedent..so eliminate it
thus left wid d

I agree. Even if you post your choice and not the answer, reasoning becomes biased.

"D" you can eliminate B,C,E for incorrect idiom. The correct idiom is attempt to:

I thought attempts at is usable.

For instance

'a successful attempt at cooking' is a valid statement.
