Thanks

As only oranges must be removed then 14 apples which are now in the box must comprise 70% of total # of fruits after removal: 0.7*total=14 --> total=20, and as there are 37 fruits now 37-20=17 oranges must be removed.

The objective here is that 70% of the fruit in the box should be apples.

Now, there are 14 apples at start and there is no talk of removing any apples, so number of apples should remain 14 and they should constitute 70% of total fruit, so total fruit = 14/0.7 = 20

So we should have 20-14 = 6 oranges.

Right now, there are 23 oranges, so to get to 6 oranges, we should remove 23 - 6 = 17 oranges.

Let x denotes the total no of fruits.

No of Apples remain the same.
Hence
14/x * 100 = 70
Solving we get x = 20

Apples = 14 Oranges = 6
Therfore, no of oranges to be removed = 17

(14)/(37-x) = 7/10

=> x = 17

$$\frac {14}{x}$$ = $$\frac{70}{100}$$

Gives you twenty total pieces of fruit. 14 are apples, so 6 are oranges. 23-6=17 oranges that have to be removed

14 apples and 23 oranges

70 percent of the pieces of fruit in the box will be apples

--> 70%(T) = 14
T = 20

remaining
20-14 = 6

so 23-6 = 17

main point here is the apples remain the same no matter vvhat
