Read the two sentences below:

E) the ability to adjust to the environmental changes wrought by human beings has created a whole new class of dominant large mammals. --> CLEAR and Meaningful

Note that after when we have an independent clause. "The ability to do something has created something".

Guys. I got this question right in the exam but upon reviewing it I got a little confused.

Begining of the sentence "The coyote is ..." makes it clear that Coyote is singular and we need to use a singular(it) in order to refer to coyote. However, what if we want to talk about species. In that case, we will use they to refer to species. Now can "they" used in the original sentence not refer to species?

Also, I had a confusion if species is singular or plural, but by looking at this sentence it seems that species is plural.correct?

so sorry if it's too dumb of a question. Appreciate any input.

GMAT prefers less convoluted and more concise language.

Notice the end of the choice C to be able is wordy and there is no need to use infinitive to.

E it has established itself as a supreme adapter in an era when the ability

E is correct as it removes verbiage and the meaning is very clear.
