The documentary film An Inconvenient Truth has the distinction of being Hollywood’s first carbon-neutral film: the filmmakers hired energy consultants to determine the movie’s “carbon footprint” from production-related travel, clerical and office expenses, and where the cast and crew stayed on location and then offset the emissions they produced with renewable energy credits.

where the cast and crew stayed on location
the places where the cast and crew stayed on location
location accommodations for the cast and crew
the cast and crew’s location accommodations
accommodating the cast and crew on location

Between C and D, methinks C is better! I am confused because of - "cast and crew's" which does not mean of both of them.

Also, A and B are clauses, so they cannot be parallel with 'production-related travel' and 'clerical and office expenses'. E is wordy.

I think ans is B.

I am a little confused between B and C. C is direct, but I am not sure if "location acommodations" makes sense - these are two nouns.

I will go with B here.

"location accommodations for the cast and crew"(this talks about those location accommodations that were rented for cast and crew rented)

Makes more sense and is more parallel than

"the cast and crew’s location accommodations"(this gives an impression that location accommodations belong to cast and crew)

from:
production-related travel,
clerical and office expenses,
and
location accommodations (for the cast and crew)<- this is an optional modifier, which doesn't hurt the parallelism.

"C" just seems better than the rest.

I just don't understand how "carbon footprints" are related to
clerical and office expenses &
location accommodations.

It's related to production-related travel, but how it is to the other two.

Meaning wise; I'm not too convinced.

I was stuck between C & D and chose D because in the stem it says ( to determine the movie’s .......and) hence, I chose (the cast and crew's)

May be i was wrong...thanks for the explanation...

No, no. Maybe you're right. I am just not convinced with my answer. Waiting for OA and OE.

+1 for D
Parallelism-

production-related travel,
clerical and office expenses,
and
the cast and crew’s location accommodations

I think preposition "for" will affect the choice "location accommodations for the cast and crew"

...to determine the movie’s “carbon footprint” from [modifier] X, [modifier] Y, and [modifier] Z

X Y and Z should be parallel

Clearly we are talking about travel, expenses, and location accommodations.

C does not have a parallel placement of the modifier.

Therefore the answer is D - [modifier] location accommodations

IMO C.

Places don't leave carbon footprints, but accommodations could do.

shashankp27,

That's a great point, and I completely overlooked.

The article makes a difference. Agreed C, should be the right answer.

"from production-related travel, clerical and office expenses, and " Look how there is a pronoun at the beginning of each part "production", "clerical". I immediately looked for a similar construction in the answer choices. D does sound somewhat awkward, though after I reviewed all other answer choices, D seems to be the only parallel choice.

What is the OA?

C is better with clearer meaning
and answer D maybe cause ambiguity error (the cast and crew’s location accommodations: the location accommodations of the cast and crew or only the location accommodations of crew?).

I am thinking a bit different here

I think E will be right answer, then offset the emissions they produced with renewable energy credits.
Here they is referring cast & crew not the locations..

What is OA .. & OE please

I've picked D to account for parallelism. But D might not be right because of the possessive pronoun ambiguity?

Waiting for OA and OE.

I'll go with B.
from travel, from expenses, and from the places.

location accommodations doesn't seem to make much sense. location and accommodation both convey the place where the crew stayed. Then, doesn't this usage redundant?
