The earth’s resources are being depleted much too fast. To correct this, the United States must keep its resource consumption at present levels for many years to come.
Which of the following, if true, would most strengthen the argument above?
(A) New resource deposits are constantly being discovered.
(B) The United States consumes one-third of all resources used in the world.
(C) Other countries need economic development more than the United States does.
(D) Other countries have agreed to hold their resource consumption at present levels.
(E) The United States has been conserving resources for several years.
Folks, need some help here . I am trying to understand the logic behind the OA here . Let me know what you think .
I chose D..
What do you think it should be ?

B is the OA.
I don't like this answer. Even if USA keeps its consumption constant, the other 2/3 of the world's resource consumption could increase causing the whole to go down. If this answer said that USA consumes 2/3 of the world's resources, I would consider this answer.

Thanks for the reply , but here is what throws me off track from the OA.
Which of the following, if true, would most strengthen the argument above?
So considering that its true, shouldn't that make it a premise ?
I am confused with the out-of-scope issue when the question itself asks you consider the option in scope. I am baffled...
Any Comments ? What strategy should we adopt in this kind of CRs ?
