Re: The end of the twentieth century saw the emergence of dot [#permalink]
Interesting. I was not confident on this question at all. I was leaning towards paralellism but the antecedent<->pronoun agreement struck me.
The "it" I am not sure what it refers to "the century" or "the emergence"
So I stayed with C.

The end of the twentieth century saw the emergence of dot com companies, with individual companies going public, stocks reaching unprecedented levels, and it had caused feverish interest whenever their stocks went on the market.

A it had caused
B would cause
C causing
D it caused
E caused

Vivek.

Only C maintains parallelism.... going , reaching and causing

All others fail to maintain parallel structure.
