The French sociologist and activist Bob Sinclair once noted as a humerous example of income maldistribution that the elephant that gave rides to children at the Bleu Zoo was earning annually exactly what he then earned as a director of adult education for Paris.

1) that the elephant that gave rides to children at the Bleu Zoo was earning
2) that the elephant, giving rides to children at the Bleu Zoo, has been earning
3) that there was an elephant giving rides to children at the Bleu Zoo, and it earned
4) the elephant that gave rides to children at the Bleu Zoo and was earning
5) the elephant giving rides to children at the Bleu Zoo and that it earned

I think it's A also. All others can be eleminated.

2) that the elephant, giving rides to children at the Bleu Zoo, has been earning - emphasis on elephant more than what it earns
3) that there was an elephant giving rides to children at the Bleu Zoo, and it earned - same thing, we know there are elephants at the zoo.
4) the elephant that gave rides to children at the Bleu Zoo and was earning - "and was earning" is wrong usage here
5) the elephant giving rides to children at the Bleu Zoo and that it earned
"and that it earned" wrong usage here

Straight A.
All other choices seem to have problems.
