Please give the logic based on which you have arrived at your choice, so that I also can understand.

A ( greater than is more appropriate or numbers )



(B) extinction; its numbers are now five times more than

(C) extinction, their numbers now fivefold what they were

(D) extinction, now with fivefold the numbers they had

(E) extinction, now with numbers five times greater than

(A)

1) 'greater than' is more appropriate than 'more than' when we can measure the quantity.
2) 'The gyrfalcon' is singular
