E makes sense.
A, B, and C are wrong because they all cary "it" where as "they" is required as a pronoun of "leaves". in D, "the possible" seems
awakward. So E wins...........

A,B,C have misplaced modifiers because the the phrase can only modify the nouns in the independent clause it belongs to.
