tough one.

B. prefer "in addition to" over "besides"
prefer "possibilities to" over "possibilties for".

Between A and E, I choose A.

"possibly" didn't sound too appealing for me.

Choice B seems to be correct. Preventing and inhibiting is in negative sense so "possibilities for" does not sound good.

I think is D. A and B- out becuase of "its". C- out because of "it"
Between D and E I chose D because in the original sentence is "and" not "or". These "or" changes the sentence. What is OA?

It cannot do both "preventing" and "inhibit" so "or" is preferred over "and"

That leaves us with B and E. In B "its" is awkward. E is parallel as well IMO E.

Official answer per GMAT prep is (E).

or vs. and should be main split and then "possibilities to" is not a correct idiom (possibilities for is correct), E is concise as well.

Aren't A, B and C out for the simple reason that there is a S-V disagreement.

Its a great question friends.IMO E
We can rule out A ,B and C straight. Just check "Its" is referring to what ??
You will realise that it refers to Brewed Leaves: Plural. So, "It" cannot refer to "Leaves."

Another issue is "preventing and inhibiting" or "Preventing or Inhibiting" Both have very different meaning. When you are preventing, you are already inhibiting.......we dont need both to be together !!!

i didnt like the part " its possibilities" which is unidiomatic in itself.

c is not parallel with "reducing"
D > possible preventing is wrong

Therefore E. It also removes the ambiguous "its"

E is the answer choice...
Option E correctly modifies the brewed leaves...

besides possibly preventing or inhibiting .... , , the brewed leaves of Camellia sinensis may also play a role in reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Here its refers to The brewed Leaves, which is plural - Wrong.
This clears - A, B and C

A. in addition to its possibilities for preventing and inhibiting
B. in addition to its possibilities to prevent or inhibit
C. besides the possibility that it prevents and inhibits
D. besides the possible preventing and inhibiting of - preventing and inhibiting is wrong. It can either prevent or inhibit. Use of possible is also wrong.
E. besides possibly preventing or inhibiting - Correct choice
