works and it will sell them online as either electronic books or as

Reason 1
it and them create an ambiguous PN Issue.

Reason 2
either electronic books or as
Should be "either x or y" "not either x or y as"

Thats why C is wrong.

why would E be wrong, 'them'?

them seems to be referring to 'digital works'.

Expert's post
The catch here is the while the original simply says that the company will publish the digital works to be sold; It does not state that the company itself is going to sell them. May be the selling is going to be through some third party arrangement, whereas, E categorically states that the company will sell them; this is a deliberate distortion of the original intent and hence E is not to be preferred

The original sentence talks about that publisher will publish some works, but not selling them. Both C & E talks about this extra information and hence they are not valid answers.

In SC questions, we don't try to evaluate the info presented in the question, but we have to do evaluate answers which are not supposed to change question's meaning.

+1 for A

For C, PN is a bit ambiguous. The first "it" was not needed.

Except A, all other options confirm that the publisher himself/herself will sell those works. While that option is possible, but not always true. Hence we need to use passive voice (which is usually avoided in GMAT world, but in this case it is required very much)

Hope this clarified your doubt.

Can someone explain why E is incorrect?

E is wrong because:

1. Structure problem: A will do X and do Y
+ No comma before "and" because there are ONLY TWO items in the list. X and Y --> correct; X, and Y --> wrong.
+ Redundant: A will do X, and A will do Y --> Repeat subject and auxiliary. GMAT prefers A will do X and (will) do Y.

2. Intended meaning:
+ By separating a clause into two different clauses, E does not convey the plan/intention of action "publish 20 digital works"

Thus, E is incorrect.

Hope it helps.
