Sorry to hear about the dings. :( But best of luck with the process with other schools, and hope things will work out in the end!

And congrats to the invites! I concur with bsd_lover -- great news, but make sure you're prepped and ready to go for the interviews, since the next stage will be important as well. My interview performance wasn't spectacular, so it almost cost me the admit. Feel free to PM me if you need any tips.

Hope we hear back positively on the remaining decisions today!

Bsd_lover, thanks for your words. You are really the best example here how not to give up after a whole year of bad news. I wish all of us believe in ourselves whatever we will face on a way. Good luck all!

Congrats to those with interview invites!

From someone who was in your shoes last year, I was a bundle of nerves leading up to interviews, but found myself enjoying it a lot when it actually came down to it. It will probably vary from interview to interview, but I had mine on a Saturday afternoon at a café. Very casual, didn't have to dress up (jeans), and we had a good honest discussion.

I was surprised how direct they were about asking personality questions, so be prepared to talk about whether you think you're introverted vs. extroverted, speak off the top of your head vs. pause to think before you talk... things like that on top of your essay content and resume. The class diversity points to there being no sure-fire personality "model" which adcoms are looking for, so I think the purpose is just to see whether you're self-aware.

Anyway, good luck to all (be it LBS or elsewhere) and I hope to see some of you on campus soon! I am absolutely loving it here so far and you inevitably feel a little more courageous every day. I'm learning a ton, meeting great people, and getting to take in all the excitement that is London. I can't say that the me of last year would be looking forward to London Fashion Week in a few days :D I love this city.

yeah same here......ouch.....i have never felt like so rejected before. Three rejections in 3 days has been terrible on my confidence. I really need to get over this and nail the Ox interview as well.

Well Said here I come..... (hopefully)

Re: The London Business School 2009 thread [#permalink]
Hi guys, I am a 23-year old mal student from Austria and also consider applying to the LBS Master in Management Programme. Do you think I have a fair shot?

Background:
GMAT: 690 (Q 46 / V 38), AWA 5.5
TOEFL: 113
Magister (~MSc): Management Science from best Austrian university (major: finance, operation management)
GPA: 3.5 / 4

I want to work in consulting or general management in IT related fields or finance. Workplace US or Europe.

Work Experience:
- Only part-time besides my studies, started with programming and lately consulting for IT-related projects in a small company

Additional Experience:
- 6 times Austrian champion and several medals at European Championships pool-billiards. Was in national team for 6 years, 1 year team leader.
- Was coach for young pool-billiards players and also conducted workshops for several years.
- Several honours with distinction in music (played the clarinet for 9 years). Was part of an ensemble and an orchestra for ~4 years.

Personally I think that my background is strong enough to be considered for the program. What do you guys think?
Thanks!

To Hofimax:
after being interviewed for LBS MM programme I can say that it is perfect for those with less than 1 year of work experience. U can benefit from all the things school offers to MBA, Sloan, etc. students right away. You have a good profile. Do your best and send application asap. Good luck!

guys i am considering the MM program (lack of exp for MBA) so anyone whose got some idea on what they are exactly looking for, gmat score and gpa wise...i read the information available on the progam's webpage, so i mean aside the excelling in sports or something non-academic stuff. also i got rejected by LSE's MSc Fin program, so should i take a hint that LBS's MM will treat the same or what?

if its already discussed, pls post the link. thanks
